Professional Development and Training
Over the years, Western Michigan University has established a positive rapport with many organizations within Michigan by offering academic credit for professional development workshops.
To attach academic credit to the professional development and in-service workshops, the Office of Lifelong Learning and Education uses the Letter of Agreement (LOA) system. The LOA is an initiative to strengthen relationships between Western Michigan University, school systems and other organizations.
Under the LOA system school districts and other organizations can host their event and the workshop participants may register for academic credit. WMU will then reimburse a percentage of the tuition monies back to the partnering school district or other organization.
Extended University Programs wants to continue strong relationships with educational and business organizations because learning never ends.
